Album

Better Than Home is the seventh solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Beth Hart. Hart's husband and her manager convinced her to work with the production team of Rob Mathes and Michael Stevens, whom she had met when she performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. Hart had worked with Kevin Shirley for her last three albums, but she was persuaded to try a different team and go a different direction. The production team challenged Hart to leave behind the darker themes and to write more. The new album Better Than Home is out now worldwide on ProvogueMascot Label Group. So making her new album, Better Than Home - which comes out April 14 and which Billboard is premiering exclusively below - with new producers was hard and scary, but ultimately worth the risk. Beth Hart freely admits that she does not like change. I worked with Kevin Shirley for the last three records, and that's where I was really happy, Hart tells Billboard. A change in producers helped Hart change direction, letting her depart from the down-and-dirty blues belting she specialized in throughout her time with Shirley, reconnecting slightly to her singersongwriter beginning while emphasizing deep soul roots. Despite opening with the tight Memphis groove of Might as Well Smile, most of the album is grandly introspective - majestic brooding ballads with a clear debt to early Elton John. With Better Than Home has Beth Hart said her most optimistic album to date. This put them the line of the positively tuned predecessor Bang Bang Boom Boom 2012. As she sings in the opening track Might As Well Smile with happy wind instruments and vocals choose Heart sure to focus on the good sides of life, rather than to be guided by fear or sadness. Heart gives her audience on the dedicated to her father Better Than Home a hopeful understanding. An insight that they, as we know, has not reached without ever first by deep valleys to have gone. With Better Than Home has Beth Hart said her most optimistic album to date. This put them the line of the positively tuned predecessor Bang Bang Boom Boom (2012). As she sings in the opening track Might As Well Smile (with happy wind instruments and vocals) choose Heart sure to focus on the good sides of life, rather than to be guided by fear or sadness. Heart gives her audience on the dedicated to her father Better Than Home a hopeful understanding. An insight that they, as we know, has not reached without ever first by deep valleys to have gone. But the past she left behind and now the importance of family or the Heart sings of love, without which, by the way, something of the strength or intensity of her singing has been lost. Beth Hart proves on Better Than Home that not only setbacks can be a good source of inspiration.
