The story of Napoleon and Carmine Coppola has become one of the best movie stories in years. The movie originally had a running time of more than four hours, but after its 1927 premiere it was never shown in the original version. Its director, Abel Gance, supervised various reconstructions and shorter versions of the footage, but the myth of the original epic film never died. Film historian Kevin Brownlow plundered the film archives of Europe for all the Napoleon footage he could find and made some lucky discoveries of scenes that were thought to be completely lost. Carmine Coppola: American composer, flautist, pianist, and songwriter who contributed original music to The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders, and The Godfather Part III, all directed by his son Francis Ford Coppola.
