Need some help, please. Mine shows Y distribution code instead of U code but everything else is consistent with this release. It can't be this http://www.discogs.com/David-Bowie-Hunky-Dory/release/6715536 since my copy doesn't show "France Imprimerie Sorel" but A.R.E.A.C.E.M instead like this one. I'm a little confused. Should I make another release or stick to this one?
I've got one of these too... with a Y code. Did you get any further info?
Rollers from Abdun Rollers from Abdun
Great pressing and the ultimate Bowie album. If you were to pick only two Bowie albums it would have to be Hunky Dory, followed closely with Ziggy Stardust. There is no filler track on this album.
Dammy Dammy
Does anyone know any reason why changes is 2.32 on all alot of these latest pressing and its an extra minute longer on numerous others?
Cheber Cheber
If that's the case, the timing would have to stay, mistake or not, as the listing is meant to reflect the release, but this should be mentioned in the "notes" for the release !
Dianantrius Dianantrius
The duration isn't 2:32 on the vinyl itself, the track runs for about 3:37 in reality. It's an error copied over from the timings printed on the inner sleeve. Somebody should probably fix the listing and check the other tracks while they're at it, as I've got a feeling it's not the only mistake.
Jwalextell Jwalextell
My copy sounds stellar. Very clean and quiet. Great dynamics. This is a really solid pressing.
fightnight fightnight
is it only my copy that has loads of pops and clicks?
Riavay Riavay
Nope. Mine is a bit noisy, too.But Ziggy and Station sound clean.
MOQ MOQ
Lovely sound on this. Much better dynamics than my 1999 remaster CD.
Uaoteowi Uaoteowi
This LP sounds phenomenal. Great mastering & pressing. If you see one, buy it.
Abuseyourdna Abuseyourdna
Nice sounding record. A little bright, but maybe that's how it was recorded? Anyway, sounds crisp, clear and lively to me. Good pressing.
Umi Umi
Sounds completely clear and full of the original "life" of the whole album. It has no skipping problems whatsoever either.
Anarius Anarius
Sound good to me. I have other albums that sound way worse. Great album, nice clean 180g pressing.
Doulkree Doulkree
i dont know what everyone is talking about, but my copy sounds excellent. very very clear and crisp with no high frequency problems. sounds great, like a 180g pressing should sound like!
Quamar Quamar
I can see from the picture (the central orange part of the vinyl) that this the 2015 print, not the 2016 one.anyway, great sound!
Bedy Bedy
Hi .I don't see a 2015 vinyl listed here. Could you clarify what you mean. Also if there is a 2015 and 2016, when you say great sound, what are you referring too. Many thanks in advance
Leniga Leniga
Could you clarify? Which is supposed to have orange stickers? And then what color is the other one?
Stoneshaper Stoneshaper
Sure it may not be the best pressing available, but it certainly isn't bad. At all!It sounds consistently good all the way through.
Nahn Nahn
Sounds great really. Don't waste your time and money searching for old copies.
Ariseym Ariseym
Actually if your patient and know what your doing, you can find an og for less than this brand new copy.
Gaeuney Gaeuney
First bought this album in 1971 and I feel this is a really good remix. much better than the 1990 CD Ryko remix and cleaner than the original in that the sound stage is much wider than the original release. Of course, it depends upon the sound system you are playing it on.....
Vishura Vishura
My copy has an "Aladdin Sane" label on each sides... Does anyone else owe such a copy or am I the only one?
Hanad Hanad
Mine has the Aladdin Sane labels too. I thought they sent the wrong disc at first.
Falya Falya
My copy had that as well, so it could be a production error.
Wen Wen
Don't waste your money! I tested without EQ, and it sounds muddy and poor in mid-high range frequencies. Unless you can afford an original copy, at least one from the seventies, eighties, grab one CD copy. This kinda return of the vinyl hype, is such a waste of time and money. Remastered versions of this great albums from the past are always a dirty affair. I've got 1 original UK pressing and 1 UK repress from 1972, and they both sound far better than this reissue. If you care about the sound quality, then always be sure that any vinyl reissue has been cutted and pressed from original master tapes, like the 40th anniversary edition of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders Form Mars for example. If you used to listen a lot to the original vinyl version of Hunky Dory then your ears will catch the different sound quality.
Gralinda Gralinda
I think this guy might be right - I regret that I sold my early edition copy (US press) and this RM is too bright. The pressing is fine and the remastering is very clean, but just not as good as I hoped. Maybe its too clean now.
Rrinel Rrinel
I don't know what the heck you are talking about, this reissue sounds great.
Gela Gela
Wait, is it me or did the OP reply to his own shameless post with a "one of the best reissues ever !"? lol... well this sounds grand on my system. VERY crank-able while maintaining smooth, transient highs.
Sharpbringer Sharpbringer
Bad copy? Mine sounds great and I've seen plenty of reviews praising the quality of this. Maybe the consistency is poor from sample to sample. New vinyl is definitely not as consistent as it used to be back in the vinyl heyday.
GAZANIK GAZANIK
i totally agree, one of the best reissue ever !
Broadraven Broadraven
I thought the Ziggy Stardust 40th anniversary reissue sounds amazing.
